The word home may be not only a noun, but also an adverb and an adjective.
Hence, at the same time, it is an object, a direction (but so significant to turn its nature of a noun into the one of an adverb) and a qualification (some places are homes).
I find this surprising.
However, I got lost on my way home and I liked it more than getting home.
Hence, perhaps, home is not home, but a no-place, where I rest by now and then.
